Gowan Co., LLC’s subsidiary Gowan Crop Protection Limited announced that it has signed an agreement with Bayer AG to obtain global rights to the active ingredient Spirodiclofen. The acquisition includes product registration and trademarks, including Envidor, Envidor Speed, Ecomite and related intellectual property rights and labels. The transaction was completed on September 1, 2020, although Bayer and Gowan will work together in the next few months to facilitate an orderly transition to maintain quality customer service in all regions. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Spirodiclofen is the IRAC 23 acaricide, which can inhibit lipid biosynthesis in a wide range of mites, including Tetratetranychus, Choriodaceae, Tenuipalpidae and Tarsonmidae. It is active on all life cycles of mites, including eggs, nymphs and adult females, with both an initial “knockdown” effect and excellent residual control ability. In addition, the product can also control some pests, such as osmanthus (Cacopsylla pyri), scale (Lepidosaphes ulmi) and some leafhoppers. Spirodiclofen has active registrations in many markets around the world, mainly in horticultural crops such as citrus, apples, avocados, grapes, pears and other fruits, vegetables, nuts and planted crops.
